I have been a supporter of and pro bono event photographer for the Chamber Dance Project for several years. Chamber Dance is a company of professional dancers and musicians in Washington, DC. It is a partnership of live music and ballet in intimate settings. One of the things that I love most is getting to know the many talented artists and witnessing the development of their work in real-time.

Claudia Schreier is one such artist. Claudia is an outstanding choreographer with a long (and growing!) list of accomplishments and awards. She has been the Choreographer in Residence at the Atlanta Ballet since 2020, as well as a choreographer at the San Francisco Ballet. Her work for the CDP, Alight (the open rehearsal of which I photographed) can be seen here.

I had the pleasure of seeing one of Claudia’s works, Hector Berlioz’s Roméo & Juliette, a collaboration between the Atlanta Ballet and the Washington National Cathedral Choral Society, last fall. She will debut her new work Kin at the San Francisco Ballet’s new works festival Next@90, the company’s commemoration of its 90th anniversary. Kin will run from January 25-February 7.
